PTSD Support Group

PTSD Support Group

PTSD can show up as memories that will not stay in the past, hypervigilance, numbness, irritability, or relationships that feel harder than they should. Anchor Myself’s PTSD Support Group is a therapist-led virtual group where you do not have to translate your experience for people who have never lived it.

This is group therapy – guided, structured, and paced with safety in mind, not coaching or a free-for-all share circle.

Who it’s for

Adults 18+ working through PTSD-related symptoms or traumatic stress, such as:

  • Intrusive memories, nightmares, or triggers
  • Feeling on edge, shut down, or both
  • Avoidance of reminders or conversations
  • Impacts on sleep, trust, or relationships

You do not need a formal diagnosis to start a conversation about fit. Intake helps determine appropriateness.

What you’ll learn and do

  • Understanding how trauma responses show up in the present
  • Building safety, grounding, and coping tools
  • Reducing isolation through shared, optional connection
  • Strengthening day-to-day functioning and hope at a sustainable pace

Facilitators orient the group toward support and skills – not forced exposure or storytelling beyond what members choose.

Frequently asked questions

What is a PTSD support group?

A PTSD support group is therapist-led group therapy for people navigating PTSD-related symptoms, offering coping tools, structure, and connection with others who understand.

Will I have to recount my trauma in detail?

Not necessarily. Sharing is paced and optional. Groups emphasize safety and present-day coping; facilitators guide appropriate disclosure.

How is this different from the Trauma-Focused Group?

PTSD Support centers PTSD-related symptoms and peer understanding. Trauma-Focused emphasizes processing difficult life experiences and rebuilding a grounded foundation. Intake can help you choose.

How much does it cost?

About $200/month, private pay. Insurance is not accepted at this time.

Can I join from anywhere?

Groups are virtual and available where we can legally and clinically serve members. Confirm eligibility during intake.

Who is eligible?

Adults 18+ for whom group therapy is appropriate. Some needs are better served by individual or higher-acuity care; we will be honest if that is the case.

Is this emergency care?

No. For crisis, call 911 or 988. Anchor Myself does not provide urgent or emergency response.
